Even with the threat of a shower we had a great turnout of 10 boats today.
The wind started out from the west, so we had the first race as a long course starting at the east end
beating up to the windward west mark.
The wind started to shift to the SW so Brian R moved us to the shorter course across the pond.
Brian also thought it was time for a bit of variety as we have been scratch racing only for many weeks, so after 3 scratch races we had a mixture of handicap and scratch races which we all enjoyed.
Phil R had to brave the cold waters once again to retrieve his boat after being infringed at the windward end and getting caught up on the mark, which could not be freed by many attempts by other boats to push him off.
There is a link on this site (also on the Whats app group) to a post of rules and tactics to help anyone
new to sailing or just wanting a simple explanation of racing rules.
The addition of the handicap races evened out the field and Andrew G took out first place with Kim S in 2nd (great to see him back for another week) then Grant T in 3rd by a few points right through to position 9.
